Howdy Pitchers;
We had a good turnout at the Brunswick Stew Tournament with
23 pitchers on hand. It was good to get back to some kind of normal and be able
to see friends again. It was great having Robbie Bloodworth back on the courts along
with his son Seth pitching his first tournament. We also had another new
pitcher Scottie Harris pitched his first GHPA tournament and we want to welcome
him to our horseshoe family. Lawrenceville had a good turnout the week before
with 30 pitchers attending.
In Brunswick in the 30 ft
Championship Class we had two pitchers make it to the final game undefeated and
facing each other for the Title. Ron Cloutier and
George Schmidt had a great game but Ron was on fire and took the win and the 30
ft Championship Title. With George taking 2nd
Royce Byrd took home 3rd Place with a fine effort all day.
The 40 ft Championship started out
with a bang as Robbie gave Ronnie Miller a good old fashioned butt whipping 81
to 40. Ronnie did manage to start pitching in the next game a little and took
out number one seed Matt Braswell thanks to a really good handicap. When the
final game rolled around there was crowd with a chance to take home the title
as everyone spent the day beating up on each other. In the final game Ronnie
had to have a ringer on the last shoe to defeat Scottie and for once didn’t
choke and took down Scottie after a game that went back and forth all of the
way. Ronnie got some help as Matt beat Robbie on the last shoe also to give
Robbie two losses and Ronnie the 40 ft Championship
Title.
Matt took 2nd Place followed by Robbie 3rd
Place.
Class A saw Bryan and Rose Strong wind up facing each other
in the final game tied for 1st Place. Rose edged Bryan out by four
points for the win and Class Championship Title. Bryan took 2nd
Place with Jim McElveen taking 3rd Place.
Class B Saw another Strong take the title as Lily Strong
went undefeated to claim the Class B Title followed by Jason Boatwright in 2nd
Place.
Our next GHPA tournament is April 24th in
Marietta. We hope to see everyone there.
The deadline for entering the Newberry South Carolina
